Army disabled veteran, Thomas “T-Man” Brown was hired as a veteran outreach coordinator at Tampa Crossroads, Inc. in 2011.   The outreach for Tampa Crossroads is under a Veterans Administration contract that has strict guidelines.  As an outreach coordinator, T-man spent his days in the streets and wooded areas of Tampa and Hillsborough County, searching out Homeless veterans.  That's when the homeless epidemic became real to him.   As he worked, he realized that homeless' needs were a lot greater than what was expected.

Tampa Homeless Outreach (THO) was formed with a lot of dedication, help and support from a network of numerous friends in the community as well as other community providers with the same passion.

T-man partnered with other community providers such as Hillsborough County Sheriff’s (HCSO) Homeless Initiative Deputies, Tampa Police Departments (TPD) Homeless Initiative Officers, Hillsborough County Housing Authority (HCHA), the Veterans Administration (VA), Publix Supermarkets, Costco and Suncoast Brotherhood just to name a few.

Tampa Homeless Outreach’s vision is to locate and identify homeless veterans and non-veterans; to aid in finding emergency shelter, and provide assistance with the necessities to improve their living conditions.  Tampa Homeless Outreach will offer direction and guidance to them in applying for Social Security as well as VA benefits, seeking employment and affordable housing.
